iPhone 4 at 1 Glance

July 25th, 2010

iPhone is no doubt the most "celebrated" phone in the world since the launching of its first generation. And now, the latest iPhone 4 is here (but not in Malaysia yet, Maxis said they will launch but again the question is – “when?”)

Anyway, lets take a glance at its features:

iPhone 4 comes with full stainless steel body with glass front. It also has proximity sensor for dimming control and auto answer. There are some mysterious lines which are actually part of the antenna system, integrated into the new stainless steel structure of the phone.

Powered by IOS 4 (which Apple claimed as the world’s most advanced mobile operating system), you will know how to use it at the very first time you pick it up thanks to the revolutionary Multi-Touch interface in iOS which was designed for the most natural pointing device ever: your finger. Just simply tap, drag, swipe, pinch, flick or twist your fingers, you control it all. Even tasks that might seem complicated — such as starting a FaceTime call or editing a video with iMovie — are simple, easy, and fun.

With a new battery of iPhone 4, it  gives you 7 hours of 3G talk, 6 hours of 3G browsing, or 10 hours if you browse over WiFe or  300 hours of standby time .

Peak transfer speeds, on the quad-band HSDPA/HSUPA network should reach 7.2 mbps down, and 5.8 mbps up, theoretically.

Another incredibly cool feature is the addiction of a 3-axis gyroscope. The new feature will allow developers to work with pitch, roll and yaw, as well as rotation about a gravitational point.  6-axis motion sensing will open up an entirely new world.

There are some other sensors, as well.  Proximity (like the Motorola Droid) will allow display dimming and auto-answer.  A compass and ambient light sensors are also integrated.

Retinal Display
iPhone 4 has 4x greater pixel density, in a new “retinal display”  which will create incredibly sharp text. The text will appear as you would see it in a fine printed book “unlike anything you’ve ever seen in an electronic display”.

No loss in the display size as there is no scaling of any of the interface elements. All of the elements simply look sharper than they did.  With 326 pixels per inch at a 960×640 resolution, it is very close to a true HD format!  It is only 22% fewer pixels than iPad.

5-Megapixel Camera with LED Flash
Camera features are now updated with a back-side lightning sensor that will allow better capture of night photos.

HD Video Recording and Editing
iPhone 4 featured HD video recording with Full 720p at 30 frames per second. You can also use a built-in port of iMovie to edit the files directly on your iPhone. Now you’ll be able to add transitions, photos and even music to your creations, on the fly.  Geolocation features will tag your movies and you can add that information to the file.

iPhone 4 has two cameras: One on the front, which focuses on you. And one on the back, which focuses on everything else. FaceTime lets you switch back and forth between them at any time during a video call. All you have to do is tap a button.

When people are required to multitask during work, so as iPhone 4. Now you can run your favourite third-party apps — and switch between them instantly — without slowing down the performance of the foreground app or draining the battery unnecessarily.
